Week commencing 5th September 2016 - Our NEW Advanced Practitioning service will allow urgent appointments to be dealt with on the day by our Advanced Practitioner Claire. Appointments will be bookable on the day and available every day.  Claire is able to prescribe any treatment that you may require.


 

Please be aware that if you are over 75 your named GP may have changed - If your named GP was Dr Travers, Dr Taylor of Dr Lowe you will now have been transferred over to Dr Smith. This does not affect your right to see any GP of your choice.

If you have a Care Plan in place and were under any of the above GPs we are currently in the process of allocating you a new named GP. Further information will follow.



 As part of our contract all patients are now required to have been allocated an accountable GP. The named accountable GP will take lead responsibility for the    coordination of all services required under the contract and ensure they are delivered to each of their patients where required. 

If you wish to know who your named GP is, if you have a preference as to which GP you would prefer to have as your allocated GP or if you do not wish to have an allocated GP please speak with the receptionist. 

If you have a Care Plan in place, you are 75+ or housebound we will have already been in contact with you to notify you who your accountable GP is. 

Please note this does not affect your right to consult with any GP of your choice.


 

We have now activated the SMS text message appointment reminder service so appointment reminders will now be sent via text message to all patients that we have mobile telephone numbers for.

Have you heard about Pharmacy First? Its a new scheme where you can get advice and/or medicines for minor ailments such as warts, cold sores, coughs, sore throats, diarrhoea etc without having to make an appointment with your GP. The service is available to anyone that is registered with a Barnsley GP Practice. For more information visit

EPS (electronic prescription service) has been launched within our practice.

Are you on regular medication? Would you like us to send your prescription electronically to your chosen pharmacy? This would save you time not having to call into the surgery to collect you prescription. If you would like to opt into this service please call into the reception and speak with a member of the team or speak with your local pharmacist.
